Review – The Last Starfighter

“Greetings Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League, to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada.” Let me start off this quick review by saying that The Last Starfighter is one of the all-time classic sci-fi movies that shouldn’t be missed. As for the plot and the characters, here’s a general idea how it goes without giving too much away.

The Last Starfighter is about a young man named Alex Rogan, your typical teenager living in a back woods trailer park in California. Thanks to what he believes is a video game, he’s recruited by the alien Centauri to defend the frontier against the approaching Ko-Dan Armada. Despite his initial hesitation (not to mention an android replacement), Alex is drawn into the conflict. Despite near impossible odds, Alex and his navigator Grig singlehandedly defeats the Ko-Dan Armada.

If you think their’s nothing special about this classic sci-fi film, your wrong. The characters in this film are simply outstanding, featuring memorable performances, and outstanding special effects. Also, this film was one of the original pioneers of CGI effects alongside the cult classic Tron, making extensive use of computer-generated imagery for it’s massive space battles. If your a lover of sci-fi movies, or looking for an good classic popcorn flick, then I’d suggest checking out The Last Starfighter today!
